Ripple resistor is a kind of wire-wound resistor. It is made of alloy strip wound on the surface of the ceramic tube, and the resistance strip is formed into a corrugated shape. That's why it's called a ripple resistor.

Resistors are more resistant to current shocks because the resistance material has a larger cross-sectional area. Of course, if you don't have a wire-wound resistor, don't mention the ripple resistor.
